Cisco is a company that builds these networking devices and one of them is routers. Cisco IOS is a proprietary operating system that Cisco routers and switches run on. Cisco’s ISR series routers are the example of routers that provide various services. ISR 1800 and 2800/2900 series routers. Every command and concept discussed holds true for all of these routers. The only difference that you need to be aware of is the output difference in memory, interface type (Ethernet or Fast Ethernet), and a number of interfaces. These interfaces available on switches vary from one series to another series. Cisco also provides a wide range of switches under its Catalyst brand.
